Installation of AVG Business Edition: Avg.com/retail
For this, first you have to install AVG Remote Admin and then run the Admin Server Deployment Wizard. Now, you have to activate and configure both AVG Data Center and UpdateProxy roles. After this, you have to enter your valid AVG license number.
When the deployment is complete, then you have to open Notepad as Administrator and then load avgadmsv.ini, which is found under %ProgramData%\AVG\Admin Server Data.
After this, you have to Set DisableUpdateDownloading=1, AdminServerUpdateCheck=0 and then add DisableAvgVersionLoading=1 to the end of the file just to switch Admin Server to offline mode. Now, you have to restart the AVG Admin Server.
Manually Change the Update URL to Use the UpdateProxy Mirror:
You can configure the UpdateProxy role through the Admin Server Deployment wizard. For this, first you have to open AVG Remote Administration. Then, you should open both Shared settings for stations from Tools. Now under Update, you should set the primary update address to point to the admin server URL in this format: http://<FQDNorIP>:4158/avgupdate/
You should repeat the step for the Shared settings for application servers. And then Synchronize all stations and application servers.
Install AVG on Endpoint:
You should Install AVG on endpoints according to the license which you have purchased. Now, you can manually copy the installer to the device or you can also use the network deployment wizard. Here, you can find all current installers. Now, the device will warn you that you are not protected because the license is not activated.
Download Program + VPS Updates and License file: Avg.com/retail
Use AVG Updates Downloader tool:
This is the Automatic tool for downloading Program, VPS Updates and license file. Now, you should Run the tool and then choose the folder in which you want to save the data. After this, you have to click on “Check Updates” and then the download will start. Here, you have to copy these files to your update proxy server in the isolated network. And the location should be the same by default: C:\ProgramData\Avg\Admin Server Data\update
Unpack Downloaded VPS Update Files:
After downloading the updates with the tool, you should unpack them into the C:\ProgramData\Avg\Admin Server Data\update folder and then just overwrite already existing ones.
Remote Admin Console License Management:
You should add this line into your hosts file where Admin Server is installed: 184.108.40.206 rs.update.avg.com. Here, this assigns (220.127.116.11) as the static IP of https://rs.update.avg.com in which you can create a network exception for. In case, you are not able to set that exception, then you have the other options to obtain a license file:
First, you have to enable powershell scripts. For this, you have to open Run dialog box (Win + R). Then, you have to type gpedit.msc (Group Policy Editor). After this, you have to browse to Local Computer Policy and then select Computer Configuration. Then, you have to choose Administrative Templates and then select Windows Components and then choose Windows Powershell. You have to enable “Turn on Script Execution”. After this, you should set the policy to Allow all scripts. When the license file has been downloaded, then you can revert this change.
Network Installer Wizard:
For this, first you have to start Network Installer and then select “creation of installation script”. After this, you have to enter your license number and then fill in the rest of the wizard. Now at the end of the wizard, you have to note the path where the script will be stored to locate avg_license.ini
When you have the license file, then move it to the clients. Now in the endpoint, you should run Command Prompt as Administrator and then start instup.exe with the full path to your license file.
Ex.: “C:\Program Files\AVG\Antivirus\setup\instup.exe” /instop:change /licfile:C:\TEMP\avg_license.ini /wait
At the end, you have to close and reopen the UI and then check the license under Settings and then choose Subscription.
